North Beach is in the northeast of San Francisco next to Fisherman's Wharf and Chinatown. Before the 80s, the neighborhood was known as San Francisco's Little Italy. While the native Italian American population has dropped since the 1980s, the neighborhood still has an Italian character with many Italian cafes, restaurants, and bakeries.
The North Beach has some exciting festivals that many residents and San Franciscans attend every year. North Beach Festival takes place in the North Beach District, which covers some quaint streets and Washington Square park in the heart of the neighborhood. In addition, The North Beach street fair on Grant Avenue on Father's Day is also one of San Francisco's most popular festivals.
